Message from Carmen Samuelson

I would once again like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart, for your dedication, support and hard work on my behalf as a City Council candidate. I cannot think of a single thing I would have done differently and firmly believe we, as a group, had an affect on the outcome of the election. We should all be proud of how we conducted ourselves. It is great that we maintained our integrity and did not give in to negative campaigning. I will always be proud of the fact that we were instrumental in getting so many uninvolved and disenchanted citizens, interested enough to take part in the election process.

We will never again sit back and wait for someone else to do the right thing or expect others to make decisions based on what is good for Farmington. It will be up to each and every one of us to closely monitor who is acting on our behalf and who is making decisions based on FARMINGTON FIRST.

My campaign has always been based on NO COMPROMISE when it comes to decisions that affect Farmington adversely. I have not waivered from that and still believe this is what we should look for in our elected officials. I hope everyone keeps this in mind when measuring the success of our city leaders.

Again, I appreciated your help and hard work. It has been a wonderful experience. I met so many neighbors, made many new friends and had the opportunity to exchange ideas with many, many caring people.

NO COMPROMISE...STAY INVOLVED AND INFORMED....EACH OF YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!

Best,
Carmen Samuelson

Carmen Samuelson Message - Meet the Candidates

For those not able to attend the Meet the Candidates night it will be televised starting Monday Oct 29 at various times on cable channel 17. For those without cable, it will be simulcast online at daviscable17.com. The person who filmed it said he would call me and let me know the times of showing to people can take a look if interested. I thought the evening well planned and the format with a moderator and questions from the audience was terrific and gave everyone an equal chance to present their ideas and issues to the voters.

We are coming down to the wire and it is every bit as important that we all get out and vote and encourage all friends and neighbors to do the same. This will have tremendous impact on all of our lives for the next 4 to 8 years and we MUST stay informed and involved.

VOTE ON NOVEMBER !!!!!TELL EVERYONE THEIR VOTE COUNTS!!!NO COMPROMISE!!!!!!!

Carmen Samuelson Message

Like everyone else, I was pleased that the Farmington City Council and Planning Commission did not approve the UDOT application to amend the Master Transportation Plan to accommodate a highway through our city. However, the comments of the UDOT representatives made it clear that we must be stay vigilant and involved.

We are all aware there are other issues that must be decided that will drastically impact our city and way of life in the next 5 to 10 years. As long as there is property left to build and develop , there will be people who will try to convince us that they know what is best for our future. We, as Farmington citizens, should be the decision makers for our future.

Now, more than ever, we should focus on what our priorities are and NEVER COMPROMISE when it comes to deciding what is best for our families.

Remember, when you vote on November 6, that we must continue to stay involved and active. Please elect people who will represent your priorities and will not be afraid to stand up to special interests or government entities and say "NO" if it does not benefit Farmington. Careful, thoughtful, unhurried planning will be the key to our future.

Along with the growth, comes necessary expansion of fire and police services that are adequate. More people means more traffic on our streets that must be maintained. We will have to reach a balance of development and open space. Our citizens value parks and trails and we will need to find the funding for this. We will welcome commercial development in the right place with the right look to insure that we don't have empty stores and strip malls dotting our beautiful city. During this period of massive tax increases coming from all directions, the City Council needs to carefully weigh our future financial obligations and learn to do what we all do in times of hardship and increased financial burdens-tighten our belts and concentrate on our needs and not necessarily our wants.

VOTE ON NOVEMBER 6!!!!!TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS-!!!!!NO COMPROMISE!!!!

PLEASE TAKE A CLOSE LOOK....

PLEASE TAKE A CLOSE LOOK....

Now that we have gone from ten to six candidates for City Council, I invite all of you to take a close look at each of us before deciding who to cast your vote for on November 6th. Now is the time to decide who will stand for the issues and fight for the services you most value in this city where you have chosen to live and raise your family. There are only 5 City Council members, which can sometimes create situations where one member may disagree with the other four. Please pick a candidate that will not be afraid to be the lone dissenter, if that dissent represents what is best for Farmington. Choose a candidate that will listen, study the issues, and ask the right questions without feeling pressured to make a premature decision. Campaign for those who represent the entire city with a broad enough perspective to see that all issues affect ALL of Farmington. Please elect someone who will put personal feelings aside in order to make the right decisions for the most people.

I WILL NOT COMPROMISE WHEN IT COMES TO ISSUES THAT AFFECT FARMINGTON ADVERSELY!!!

THANKS SO MUCH....NOW LET'S GET TO WORK

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of so many people, we now have the opportunity to go forward and make the necessary changes to our City Council in November. Voter turn out was unprecedented from our area , but there are still too many unregistered voters in Farmington.

November is right around the corner and we have to continue to keep the farmingtoncitizens.org ball rolling. Please encourage friends, neighbors and relatives to check the website often and stay involved.

Now more than ever, we need all the help we can get!!

Thank you again for the the work and support on my behalf.

NO COMPROMISE..IT MUST BENEFIT FARMINGTON....GET INVOLVED...VOTE IN NOVEMBER!!

You Decide

YOU DECIDE..........

Hopefully everyone had the opportunity to read the Farmington candidate profiles in the Standard Examiner on Sept.2, 2007. If not, I have a copy for anyone interested. After reading these profiles, YOU decide..

...Who will not hesitate to say "NO" if it does not benefit Farmington.
...Who is compromising our future away to other cities and UDOT.
...What each candidate considers to be the important issues facing our city in the next 4 to 8 years.
...Who is more interested in outside developers than in the citizens
...Who will fight to maintain the lifestyle we value.
...Who shares YOUR vision of the Farmington we want for our children and grandchildren.
YOU DECIDE......THEN VOTE ON SEPTEMBER 11!!!!

NO COMPROMISE!!!!........IT IS NOT TOO LATE!!!!.......VOTE ON SEPTEMBER 11

What is the Benefit to Farmington?

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT TO FARMINGTON?

This has been the focus of my campaign and I believe it is the responsibility of our elected officials to ask this question before making any decision affecting our city. the more I hear and read about our "options", the more I believe that ANY Legacy connector through Farmington at this time, would NOT benefit Farmington. No decision should be made until UDOT redesigns and fixes their admitted failure of Park Lane and we assess how the commuter rail affects our commuter traffic patterns. This means we can't make a decision this week, this month or possibly even this year. However, the benefit of careful and thoughtful study of this UDOT project, can make the difference in Farmington as a desirable place for our children and grandchildren to live.

If you believe that a Legacy connector slashing though out city is any different from having a freeway through our city, please consider this. In the website called senatesite.com, there is an article dated November 7, 2005, called Legacy:Debunking a Few Myths. This was written by Senator Sheldon L. Killpack and Representative J. Stuart Adams. This is a quote from their response to what they called myths surrounding the Legacy Parkway Agreement...

"...The road is being designed to carry traffic at freeway speeds as per UDOT standards. Materials used will accommodate all truck traffic. In just over 10 years after the completion of the parkway, all restrictions go away. We will have a road that facilitates traffic at freeway speeds and is capable of carrying all the truck traffic you can shake a stick at" (Their bold)

Do we really think any road through our city that connects onto a freeway will be a slow moving, quiet road? Of course not.

VOTE ON SEPTEMBER 11!!.........FARMINGTON FIRST!!.......... IT'S NOT TOO LATE!!!

Working Together

We Need YOUR Help!!!!!

I have been contacted by friends and neighbors from our old neighborhood in east Farmington, who are aware of the three candidates from west Farmington and want to know, "Are you all one issue candidates or will you represent all of Farmington on issues that our city faces in the future?". All of these neighbors are aware of my concern and involvement in the Village at Old Town and various other neighborhood issues, but I think it is CRITICAL that we all take the time to talk with family, friends and neighbors to assure them that we are concerned with ALL of Farmington and we realize there is more facing our city in the future than the Legacy Connector. Station Park, maintaining Main Street as a tree lined, residential corridor , development- both commercial and residential, downtown revitalization plans and adequate public services that keep up with our rising population ,re all equally important in the next 4 to 8 years.

I believe all of us are aware that there are no east side or west side issues. We must work together, no matter where our house is located, to assure Farmington adheres to the vision of it's citizens-not outside developers or government agencies.

NO COMPROMISE!!! VOTE ON SEPT. 11TH!! IT'S NOT TOO LATE !!!!

Farmington - The Sacrificial Transportation Zone

Corridor preservation will cost the taxpayers millions of dollars. Once our money has been spent for this, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE IT WILL BE APPROVED after all environmental studies have been completed. Very simply, West Farmington land will be acquired, zoning changed to accommodate UDOT, values of our properties and homes will decrease significantly and the project may NEVER get approval. Why would our city even consider any option with the very real possibility of failure?

Is the Legacy North Connector a benefit to FARMINGTON? THE ANSWER IS NO!!!!

VOTE SEPTEMBER 11th!!!!!!! NO COMPROMISE!!!!!!!GET INVOLVED!!!IT'S NOT TOO LATE!!!!!!!!!!!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT....

FOOD FOR THOUGHT....

A study published in Lancet (a medical journal) in January 2007, investigated the association between residential exposure to traffic and 8 year lung function growth. The study followed 3677 Southern California school children for 8 years and found the children living within 1,640 feet of a freeway had deficits in lung function. The study interpretation is "Local exposure to traffic on a freeway has adverse effects on children's lung development, which are independent of regional air quality, and which could result in important deficits in attained lung function in later life". (Lancet, January 2007)

THIS is what UDOT will expose our children and grandchildren to, if we allow them to "preserve a corridor" through our residential neighborhoods.

We cannot allow UDOT or anyone else to condemn our children to a lifetime of medical problems.LET'S PUT A STOP TO THIS NOW, ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!

NO COMPROMISES.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GET OUT AND VOTE ON SEPTEMBER 11.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
