Candidates

Message from Carmen Samuelson

I would once again like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart, for your dedication, support and hard work on my behalf as a City Council candidate. I cannot think of a single thing I would have done differently and firmly believe we, as a group, had an affect on the outcome of the election. We should all be proud of how we conducted ourselves. It is great that we maintained our integrity and did not give in to negative campaigning. I will always be proud of the fact that we were instrumental in getting so many uninvolved and disenchanted citizens, interested enough to take part in the election process.

We will never again sit back and wait for someone else to do the right thing or expect others to make decisions based on what is good for Farmington. It will be up to each and every one of us to closely monitor who is acting on our behalf and who is making decisions based on FARMINGTON FIRST.

My campaign has always been based on NO COMPROMISE when it comes to decisions that affect Farmington adversely. I have not waivered from that and still believe this is what we should look for in our elected officials. I hope everyone keeps this in mind when measuring the success of our city leaders.

Again, I appreciated your help and hard work. It has been a wonderful experience. I met so many neighbors, made many new friends and had the opportunity to exchange ideas with many, many caring people.

NO COMPROMISE...STAY INVOLVED AND INFORMED....EACH OF YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!

Best,
Carmen Samuelson

Saturday Flyer Distribution and Hot Dog Wagon

We will be meeting at the Farmington Bay Elementary school Saturday at 11:00 AM to deliver our final flyers and to drum up interest in the City Council candidates with the hot dog/drink wagon. The candidates and wagon will be circling the neighborhoods, and we will deliver the flyers at the same time. Anyone who can come and help would be appreciated. A special thanks goes out to all those who have donate time and money to make the flyers, posters, and the wagon event possible.

Along with the newly placed signs throughout the neighborhoods this flyer and hot dog wagon will be the last effort by the Farmington Citizens Committee to get the word out on Joel, Cory, and Carmen. Please come on Saturday to show your support. Don't forget to vote next Tuesday the 6th. If you can't vote on Tuesday swing by the County Clerks office by Friday (November 2nd) and cast an early ballot.

Down the Home Stretch for the Election

Last night was Meet the Candidates Night at Farmington City Hall. The event was a good opportunity to hear where the other candidates stand on many different issues. I gained new respect for some and shook my head at others.

I was grateful for the opportunity to share my qualifications and accomplishments; while voicing my concerns and vision for Farmington. The one thing I would pass on is we need to be diligent in communicating with our friends and neighbors in regard to city politics. This is especially true in regard to rezoning, development, and transportation. It can’t just be one or two citizens voicing their concerns even after this election is over.

I am tired of current and past officials defending themselves by saying, “I didn’t know that was happening.” I have had current officials tell me now they never wanted Legacy North to gut West Farmington; but in the same breath they said they couldn’t say until they had all of the facts and information. Well, which is it? We still don’t have all the facts and information, but it was denied. Never wanted it or you waited until your seat was in jeopardy to deny it? I don’t have an ax to grind or a personal angst against anyone; but I sure struggle with people who jump on the band wagon only when the team is winning.

It would be so refreshing to have elected officials that will speak plainly, tell you where they stand and at least admit to what has or has not been done. You can’t please all of the people all of the time; but I would just ask that we elect people with the courage to take a stand. Just give it to me straight is all I ask.

Please remember to vote November 6th and get your friends and neighbors out, also. It is hard to imagine all of the changes this city will confront over the next 4 years.

For those who have supported me, passed on my name to a friend and family and whoever has been putting my signs back up before I get back to do it, I thank you!

Carmen Samuelson Message - Meet the Candidates

For those not able to attend the Meet the Candidates night it will be televised starting Monday Oct 29 at various times on cable channel 17. For those without cable, it will be simulcast online at daviscable17.com. The person who filmed it said he would call me and let me know the times of showing to people can take a look if interested. I thought the evening well planned and the format with a moderator and questions from the audience was terrific and gave everyone an equal chance to present their ideas and issues to the voters.

We are coming down to the wire and it is every bit as important that we all get out and vote and encourage all friends and neighbors to do the same. This will have tremendous impact on all of our lives for the next 4 to 8 years and we MUST stay informed and involved.

VOTE ON NOVEMBER !!!!!TELL EVERYONE THEIR VOTE COUNTS!!!NO COMPROMISE!!!!!!!

Carmen Samuelson Message

Like everyone else, I was pleased that the Farmington City Council and Planning Commission did not approve the UDOT application to amend the Master Transportation Plan to accommodate a highway through our city. However, the comments of the UDOT representatives made it clear that we must be stay vigilant and involved.

We are all aware there are other issues that must be decided that will drastically impact our city and way of life in the next 5 to 10 years. As long as there is property left to build and develop , there will be people who will try to convince us that they know what is best for our future. We, as Farmington citizens, should be the decision makers for our future.

Now, more than ever, we should focus on what our priorities are and NEVER COMPROMISE when it comes to deciding what is best for our families.

Remember, when you vote on November 6, that we must continue to stay involved and active. Please elect people who will represent your priorities and will not be afraid to stand up to special interests or government entities and say "NO" if it does not benefit Farmington. Careful, thoughtful, unhurried planning will be the key to our future.

Along with the growth, comes necessary expansion of fire and police services that are adequate. More people means more traffic on our streets that must be maintained. We will have to reach a balance of development and open space. Our citizens value parks and trails and we will need to find the funding for this. We will welcome commercial development in the right place with the right look to insure that we don't have empty stores and strip malls dotting our beautiful city. During this period of massive tax increases coming from all directions, the City Council needs to carefully weigh our future financial obligations and learn to do what we all do in times of hardship and increased financial burdens-tighten our belts and concentrate on our needs and not necessarily our wants.

VOTE ON NOVEMBER 6!!!!!TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS-!!!!!NO COMPROMISE!!!!

PLEASE TAKE A CLOSE LOOK....

PLEASE TAKE A CLOSE LOOK....

Now that we have gone from ten to six candidates for City Council, I invite all of you to take a close look at each of us before deciding who to cast your vote for on November 6th. Now is the time to decide who will stand for the issues and fight for the services you most value in this city where you have chosen to live and raise your family. There are only 5 City Council members, which can sometimes create situations where one member may disagree with the other four. Please pick a candidate that will not be afraid to be the lone dissenter, if that dissent represents what is best for Farmington. Choose a candidate that will listen, study the issues, and ask the right questions without feeling pressured to make a premature decision. Campaign for those who represent the entire city with a broad enough perspective to see that all issues affect ALL of Farmington. Please elect someone who will put personal feelings aside in order to make the right decisions for the most people.

I WILL NOT COMPROMISE WHEN IT COMES TO ISSUES THAT AFFECT FARMINGTON ADVERSELY!!!
